Lesson #06
Email / Pass Programs
Written By Titmowse
As an adult webmaster, you've come to familiarize yourself with the most commonly used sponsor program formats. You know about Pay Per Signup, where you receive a percentage commission for every new membership made through your referrer ID. You are acquainted with Recurring programs that pay you on a continual basis as long as your customer re-ups membership. You've explored Pay Per Click programs that offer a few pennies to you each time a surfer clicks a sponsor banner. There's certainly a diversity of payment programs offered to affiliate webmasters.
Here's another program to add to your list of potential marketing opportunities:
Ultimately, Email/Pass Programs are really email programs. Your sponsor will pay you for every email address you send via your referrer ID. The complexity comes in the many different ways sponsors choose to entice surfers into giving up their email addy.
One sponsor will have you promote free access to an e-magazine. Another sponsor will have you acquire subscribers to a sexy hot newsletter. Still another will offer free passes to live chats, webcam houses or various assorted smut sources online.
Whatever the featured product or site, one can usually expect to be marketing some kind of access, which will only cost the user his email address. Quite a few sponsors will continue to pay you a percentage on options your surfer pays for after they've joined an Email/Pass program. This is known as upselling.
It's not hard to market Email/Pass programs. As with any affiliate program, you promote Email/Pass programs that coordinate with the content on your sites and/or galleries. Is your site centered on the fetish niche? Sell passes to fetish e-zines. In fact, there are many niches represented by Email/Pass programs. There are gay Email/Pass programs, straight Email/Pass programs, transsexual programs and more.
While it's always important to read the rules your sponsor states in their Terms Of Service (TOS), it's positively critical to do so with an Email/Pass program. A person's email address is sacred. You should never go trolling through newsgroups or message boards or online white pages for email addresses. It's wrong and doing such will get your affiliate account terminated. You want to generate signups legitimately and exactly as your sponsor instructs you.
The Email/Pass sponsor always verifies the addresses you send. If you cheat, you will be caught.
Most of the time as an Email/pass affiliate, you'll probably just have to add a bit of code or sponsor-provided link/banner to your site or gallery. When your surfer signs up (with his/her email address) via your link, you're given credit for the signup. You'll receive marketing materials from your Email/Pass sponsor but that doesn't mean you can't embellish the sale with some encouraging or tempting text. Describe the product. Explain the bargain. Guarantee the privacy factor to your surfers. As long as your sales text jives with your sponsor's rules, you're free to praise their product.
If you're having trouble getting surfers to shell out full-price paysite memberships, consider Email/pass programs. If you're sick of measly click-throughs and no conversions, Email/Pass programs might be for you. If you've got surfers that you think are open to the idea of signing up for access with only an email address, try Email/pass programs.
